After many years as an artist in other mediums, Kristin started her journey in lampworked bead making in 1999 and has explored and progressed through many aspects of glass design. She has been fusing, slumping and making stained glass as well as continuing lampworking. Constantly trying new ideas and techniques she pushes the boundaries of her glass knowledge. She has recently been producing art that combines multiple mediums (ceramic, metalwork, and glass). By stretching her knowledge through experimentation, she has been known to open the kiln to cracked or "overly melted" artwork. This always produces a "learning moment" and she (literally) picks up the pieces and learns from her mistakes. She constantly questions herself; "Can I produce a piece that is larger? Can this glass go outside if it is 20 below zero? Can I combine this with metal?" Her studio is an idea factory as well as a laboratory and the artwork is always a surprise.
Each item that Kristin makes is unique and personal. She never reproduces a design, so every piece of artwork is one of a kind; whether it is a set of lampworked earrings, a vase or her newest creations of her whimsical garden flowers.
